Meet Michelle Chong, Grade 4 Catechist
Michelle Chong is far from her sunny birthplace of Hawaii, but she is at home at Our Lady of Hope. She is the mother of two boys who have gone through OLOH’s Religious Education program, and teaching in private and public elementary schools has helped her excel as a RE Catechist for classes ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 4.
Michelle encourages her students to ask questions about our Faith, discuss Salvation History, and learn about the saints. Her class is devoted to service: they have sent care packages to injured veterans and emergency workers who are healing at Boulder Crest Retreat House in Bluemont, VA, and made cards for new mothers, distributed by Birthright.
Michelle has an encouraging message for future volunteers: “Please join in the call to help share the beauty of our Faith, educate, and serve all by teaching the children the way. If we pass on our love for our neighbor and our Lord, we can improve the future for all children.”
