Farewell to Father Saunders | Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church

Farewell to Father Saunders

Farewell Celebration

Join us in saying farewell to Father Saunders on Sunday, June 21. Father will celebrate his last Mass at 12:15 p.m.

After Mass, a farewell celebration will be held in the parish hall and courtyard. The Knights of Columbus will be grilling hot dogs, hamburgers, and bratwurst. Beverages, chips, and dessert will also be provided. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket for picnic-style dining on the soccer field. Indoor seating will be limited.

To allow for social distancing, we are requesting that parishioners join us in two waves.

1:30-2:30 p.m.: Last names A-M
2:30-3:30 p.m.: Last names N-Z

Spiritual Bouquet

Mary O. has volunteered to put together a spiritual bouquet for Father Saunders. Spiritual bouquets are prayers or devotional acts that someone (that’s you!) has offered or will offer for someone else (in this case, Fr. Saunders). Each individual prayer, once prayed, becomes like a flower. Then, the group of prayers or devotional acts together, form a bouquet mystically offered as a gift to God for the intentions of Fr. Saunders. If you would like to offer a rosary, holy hour, novena, or other prayers for Father, please email Mary at  maryo1432@gmail.com with your name, the prayers or devotions you are offering.

Share Your Memories

As a special tribute to Father Saunders, we would like to collect your pictures and memories to present him with a keepsake memory album of his twenty years of dedication and pastoral leadership to the Our Lady of Hope Church Community.

Please email any pictures you would like to be included in this album to FrSaunderspics@gmail.com

Also, please feel free to drop off any memories to be included as well (4×6 pictures or 4×6 notecards with words of encouragement or special noted memories you want to be included). There is a collection spot outside the parish office for collection of 4×6 size items to be included.

Please email or drop off all items no later than Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

Father Saunder’s last Mass will be Sunday, June 21 at 12:15 p.m. The album will be presented to Fr. Saunders at the celebration following Mass.

Thank you for your help with this special gift for our wonderful pastor.
