The Month of May at Our Lady of Hope
May 1, 2025
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As we continue this joyful Easter Season, I send best wishes for many blessings to you, your family, and friends.
During this month dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, there are a number of important events which will take place in our parish. I respectfully ask that you note the following dates and plan to participate as your schedule allows.
-We will welcome three Christian adults who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at the 10:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday, May 4th.
-Our dear second graders will make their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 10th.
-The Women’s Group will host their annual Marian Tea on Saturday, May 17th beginning at 11:00. This very special event is by ticket only so you will want to get your ticket right away as tickets usually sell fast.
-The 1700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicea is on Tuesday, May 20th. The Council Fathers established our Profession of Faith which we say each Sunday. To mark this very special occasion, there will be an evening Mass at 7:00 p.m. The first 150 families who attend will receive a book by Bishop Robert Barron regarding the Nicene Creed.
-And last, but not least, George Weigel will be with us at the Knights of Columbus fraternal year-end barbecue in the Parish Hall on Saturday, May 31st after the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Mr. Weigel writes and lectures extensively on Church-related issues. Currently, he is in Rome for the papal conclave. He will speak on living our Catholic faith in a secular culture. The cost is $10 per person for the barbecue dinner. Please keep in your prayers Father Smith and our parishioners as they embark on a parish pilgrimage May 11th to Italy for the Holy Year.
These are wonderful opportunities to grow in our Catholic faith and experience fellowship in our parish. I look forward to seeing you during this month.
Sincerely,
Father Killian
